No. They Remain Intact’ -National Publicity Secretary debunks

The Zonal Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) South-South has removed Ita Udosen as secretary of the zone’s executive committee.

Dr Ita Udosen is an ally of former Secretary of the APC National Caretaker Committee, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe.

Sen Udoedehe used his influence as National Secretary of the party to install Udosen as the scribe of the south-south zone of party. But after failing to get the gubernatorial ticket of the party in Akwa Ibom, he defected to NNPP where he emerged as candidate and subsequently contested for the governorship seat in the March 18 election.

The committee also removed Chief Victor Giadom, an ally of Rotimi Amaechi as Zonal Chairman.

The decision was part of a special resolution of an extraordinary meeting of the zonal executive committee of the party in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

In the resolution which was made available to the press, the committee passed a vote of no confidence of Giadom and Udosen.

The resolution was signed by Blessing Agbomhere, acting zonal Chairman/Zonal Organizing Secretary, Chief Edet Ita Asia, acting Zonal Secretary/ Zonal Special Leader and Ogbuobodo, zonal Legal Adviser.

The other signatories were Ebimobowei Oyas, Zonal Youth Leader and Mrs Cynthia Princewill, Zonal Woman Leader.

“The Zonal Secretary, Chief Ita Udosen has committed the following offences;

“Refusal to call for meetings and scuttling of every effort to call for meetings by members of the Zonal Executive Committee to transact the political business of the Zone.

“The Zonal Secretary, Chief Ita Udosen has refused to make use of the Zonal Office of the Party situated at no 46a, Orogbum Street, GRA, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and has frustrated every attempt of any member(s) of the Zonal Executive Committee to use the office for the efficient running of the Zone.

“The Zonal Secretary, Chief Ita Udosen refused, aborted and frustrated every effort

But in a swift reaction, the National Leadership of the ruling APC said the two officers remained intact, adding that the action of the ‘individuals’ is unlawful, unconstitutional and a nullity hence should be disregarded.

The position of the APC National Leadership was conveyed via a press statement dated April 30, 2023 and signed by the National Publicity Secretary; Barr. Felix Morka.

The statement reads “The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to media reports regarding a statement credited to some members of the South-South Zonal Executive Committee of the Party purportedly removing Chief Victor Giadom and Chief Ita Udosen from their positions as Chairman and Secretary of the Zonal Executive Committee, respectively.

“The action of the individuals, who are also signatories to the statement issued in the name of South-South Zonal Executive Committee is without lawful or constitutional authority, therefore a nullity, and should be disregarded.

Giadom and Udosen are, and remain, the South-South Zonal Vice Chairman and Secretary of the Party, respectively”.
