…as 1500 people benefit from the exercise

Commendations have continued to trail the week-long free medical and surgical mission in Oruk Anam as more than 1500 people across Akwa Ibom State and neighboring State have benefited from the exercise organized by the immediate past House Leader of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian in collaboration with the Foundation Marooned, FOMA, USA.
Speaking at the closing ceremony dinner held in Uyo yesterday, Sunday, 11th June, 2023, with the medical and non medical volunteers, Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan accompanied by his, Lady Ime, appreciated the the contribution of medical professionals, for the show of professionalism and high moral conduct at the just concluded seven days free medical outreach.
Akpan added that his passion about the health care of people became his top priority which urged him in giving back to the society and to give hope to the hopeless as it would promote a healthy, wellbeing, mental and economic prosperity of his people.

According to Hon. Udo Kieran, “my fear was eliminated by the conduct and professionalism discharged by the medical personnels in line with global best practices, I’m impress that the seven days free medical exercise was a success. God willing, we will do it again next year. It is interesting to note such a week-long medical services without complained and rancor among the healthcare providers and the beneficiaries.


“Since 2018, when we began this exercise, we have recorded tremendous success as this service. I say thank you. We will do it again next year,” Udo Kierian said.
Akpan lauded FOMA for consistency, dedication and commitment to save lives added that the best way to live is to give back to the society.
The Director of operations, FOMA, Ambassador Emaeyak Egharevba said that this year edition is the best of it kind as no fatality recoded. The total number of people attended to was 1,500 from Rivers, Akwa Ibom State, Cross River States. 110 successful surgeries conducted out of which 20 were children and 95 percent other case was anchored with drugs.
She commended her principal partner, Rt. Hon. Udo Kieran Akpan for the passion he has for the people.
The Secretary of Nigeria Medical Association, Dr. Usenobong Morgan thanked God for a successful surgeries, appreciated volunteers who put in their best to record such success.
Morgan who represented the Chairman of NMA, Dr. Mrs Godwin Abraham, maintained that, the dignity of people who came for the mission was on top of mission.

He commended Rt. Hon. Udo Kieran Akpan the immediate pass House Leader and Member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for committed to the well-being of people in the area.
In appreciation by the beneficiaries, Mr. Anderson Ubokudom; Kufre Ezekiel who had major operations in their separate responses while fielding questions with the press commended Sir Udo Kierian Akpan, the immediate past House Leader and member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. He added that it is a major relieved noted that the harsh economy has over time crippled his efforts but through this gesture made it possible.
Highpoint of the free medical mission was 120 free medicated eye glasses, drugs worth millions of naira was also distributed free.
