“There are people who are deliberately wicked. After wickedness, they hold Bible”

Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman has chided the embattled former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele for brandishing a ‘massive Bible’, in the course of his routine court appearances, describing him as a ‘… deliberately wicked…’ man.
Emefiele was on Friday admitted to bail in the sum of N50m with two sureties in like sum by Justice Rahmon Oshodi, after being arraigned on a fresh 26-count charge bordering on alleged abuse of office and irregular allocation of $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion respectively.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in its fresh charges is accusing sacked CBN boss of accepting gratification, accepting gifts through agents, corruption, receipt of property fraudulently obtained, and conferring corrupt advantage on his associates contrary to the Corrupt Practices Act of 2000.
Count one of the charge reads; “That you, Godwin Ifeanyi Emefiele, between 2022 and 2023, in Lagos, directed to be done in abuse of the authority of your office, as the Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, an arbitrary act, to wit: allocating foreign exchange in the aggregate sum of $2,136,391,737.33 (two billion, one hundred and thirty-six million, three hundred and ninety-one thousand, seven hundred and thirty-seven dollars, thirty-three cents) without bids, which act is prejudicial to the rights of Nigerians.”
Emefiele had, during his tenure as CBN Governor, introduced a cashless policy which caused scarcity of the Naira, resulting in an unprecedented hardship across Nigeria. Businesses reportedly folded up occasioning job losses, while Nigerians were subjected to various categories of negative effects including hunger, diseases and deaths.
Commenting in a viral video, Apostle Suleiman said “There are people who are deliberately wicked. After wickedness, they hold Bible”… (putting the Bible in his armpit like Emefiele).
He continued “You oppressed people, you caused problems, you caused catastrophe in the country. You changed Naira note at the end, you’re coming out of court and you hold Bible. You will still go to jail. Come on, drop that thing. You will still go to jail”.
Referring to the era of cash crunch, the Pastor said: “People died…people died… God does not empower wickedness. You can not treat people like that. People died because you are trying to score a political point.
You’re trying to oppress… people died. Now, you are coming out of court, you are holding Bible; massive Bible, bigger than the ones Pastors hold…You think the bigger your Bible, the bigger the forgiveness of sins…”
