Senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Senator Ekong Sampson, PhD has stated that, he will be glad to have a standard university in Eket Local Government Area.

Sampson stated this, Wednesday, during a media chat/ Press briefing at Watbridge Hotels, where he presented his scorecard and his intentions for the people of the Senatorial District.

Responding to a question from a media professional, Itoro Etti, who appealed for Eket LGA being the senatorial district headquarters to be accommodated among LGAs with a tertiary institution, he said, he will be glad to have a standard institution in the LGA, assuring that, he will work with other lawmakers and stakeholders to see to its fruition.

The chairman, Senate committee on Solid Minerals, said, he owes the people of the Senatorial District, effective representation and constant engagement, and he is working hard to create jobs for the people, assuring that, he will invest more in capacity training of the people, and that his constituency office in Eket, will also be used for the training, including Journalists and other media professionals from the area.

On the issue of empowerment, the former Commissioner for Environment said, he recently rewarded a supporter with a car, stressing further that he will be embarking on a massive empowerment for the people come January, 2024.

On Governor Umo Eno’s performance in 7 months, the senator stated that, “Governor Umo Eno has demystified governance and he has our support. We are impressed with his steps to leadership. His rural development is quite unique and people are involved in process.”
