Ahead of the 2020 governorship election in Edo state, Governor Godwin Obaseki has reportedly begun seeking the help of his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike, to enable him retain his seat.

Obaseki, who was elected about three and a half years ago, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was last week disqualified from contesting the gubernatorial primaries of the party.

He was said to have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with the view to prosecuting his second term on its platform. It was gathered he met some brick walks, as faithful of the PDP who are interested in the 2020 governorship are not comfortable with his joining the party.

His visit to Governor Wike, according to our reliable sources, is to help him (Obaseki) secure the PDP governorship ticket.
