…as Bobrisky, EFCC snub lawmakers

Nigerians have taken a swipe at members of the House of Representatives for threatening to order for detention of Social Media critic, Mr. Martins Otse a.k.a VeryDarkMan (VDM) when he appeared before them today, Monday.

VDM had in a video exposed Nigerian-born crossdresser, Mr. Idris Okuneye’s alleged claim that he bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Nigerian Correctional Service to subvert the full course of justice.

 It could be recalled that Idris, popularly known as Bobrisky, was earlier this year charged to court by the EFCC for abusing the Naira.

He was found guilty and sentenced to six months imprisonment.

Following the video, the lower chamber of the National Assembly had invited VDM, EFCC and Bobrisky to appear before it for questioning. VDM honoured the invitation today, but the other parties did not attend the hearing.

Upon refusing to provide certain facts which VDM said he kept to himself until Bobrisky and EFCC appeared, the lawmakers threatened to order for his detention.

Reacting to the threats while praising the fierce critic, some Nigerians who took to various social media platforms to express their displeasures said;

“Too much compliancy amongst those who are in the helm of affairs. How can you invite 3 Parties, only 1 honoured the invite, while the remaining 2 gave excuses for not coming, then, you went ahead to pressure him to speak & also threaten to detain him if he refuses to speak & y’all call yourselves Leader’s?

Nigeria really have a LONG Way to go. Justice has been truncated & buried, just look at the way our so called Rep’s handled this issue. These are the people y’all want to take Nigeria  forward? Y’all must be joking”.-Instructor Paul Imonah.

VeryDarkMan apologizes to Falana over bribery claims

Meanwhile, VeryDarkMan, has apologised to human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, over his recent derogatory comment against the senior lawyer.

VeryDarkMan, who appeared before the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions on Monday, said he also did not believe Falana was involved in the alleged bribery leveled against crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigeria Correctional Service.

He said, “Apparently, now, some people are taking advantage of what is going to target Femi Falana.

“Here, I apologise. It’s so sad that his name was inside that audio. I couldn’t believe as well; that is the part that irritated me more when I said I refuse to believe that he is a party to something like that.”

The blogger shared an audio of Bobrisky, claiming she bribed some Economic and Financial Crimes Commission officials with N15 million to drop the money laundering charge against her.

In the purported recording, the crossdresser also claimed that her “godfather,” alongside the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, ensured she served the six-month sentence in a private apartment and not in prison.

Reacting to the development in a video, VeryDarkMan called for a thorough investigation into the matter, saying that he had no intention of defaming Falana.

VeryDarkMan also alleged that Falana sought a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for N10 million.

However, in a letter dated September 25, 2024, from his legal team at Falana & Falana’s Chambers and signed by Taiwo E. Olawanle, Falana stated that he never spoke to Bobrisky about any alleged pardon or other matters, denying claims made in the video.
