… canvasses support for Gov. Umo Eno

Oku Ibom Ibibio IV and President-General, Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin Solomon Daniel Etuk (CFR) has advised Chairmen of Transition Committees from Uyo Senatorial District of the State to ensure unity amongst themselves in order to guarantee progress, peace and development in the District.

The Patriarch who stated this on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 while hosting the Council helmsmen under the auspices of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Uyo Senatorial District who paid homage to him at his Palace, urged them to see their current positions as call to service. He commended the Chairmen for their display of unity and charged them to ensure it trickled to their respective local government areas.

Ntenyin Etuk said: “Let me first of all commend you for this display of unity. I must confess that this is the first time I have seen Chairmen in Ibibio land coming together to do anything. So, I want to encourage you to sustain this unity.

Secondly, as a father, my primary responsibility is to advise and to bless. So, I want to advise that you all should represent anything that promotes peace, unity and progress. See your positions as a call to service to your people and a pedestal towards future political elevations.

This position I am today, I’m holding it in trust for all of you. Study what I’m doing; copy that which is good. Try as much as possible to share with your people, no matter how little it is”.

Urging them to always champion the cause of Ibibio land and to support the state governor, the Oku Ibom Ibibio continued “The political sustenance of Ibibio rests in your hands. You are all Ibibio people before anything else. Be the champions of Ibibio cause. There’s a call for Ibibios to wake up from slumber. Respond to the call.

By the grace of God, the current governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno comes from Uyo Senatorial District and also an Ibibio man. Give him all the support needed for him to succeed in delivering on his core mandate. One of the ways to support the governor is to use your positions effectively in your respective local government areas so that your people can feel the impact of government”.

Earlier in his address, the Uyo Senatorial District ALGON Chairman, Barr. Etetim Onuk who led the delegation said they were at the Patriarch’s Palace for a homage in the spirit of the New Year and also to appreciate him for the role he played towards their emergence as Transition Chairmen.

According to Onuk “We’re here, Your Eminence, as your children in Uyo Senatorial District. We have come in the spirit of the season. Secondly, we are here as a forum of Local Government Chairmen from Uyo Senatorial District to appreciate you for the advisory role you played towards our emergence.

We have come, Your Eminence to ask you to please thank His Excellency, the Governor for finding us fit for appointment as Transition Chairmen. We are very grateful and will do all to justify the essence of our appointments”.

Speaking further, the ALGON leader said “We want to also use this forum to respectfully inform Your Eminence that we are available for your use at anytime as your children. If there be anything you want us to do, please don’t hesitate to call on us.

As a forum, we want to congratulate you on your meritorious emergence as the President-General of Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers. We wish you a peaceful and successful reign”.

The Paramount Ruler for Nsit Atai Local Government Area, HRM, Edidem Ita Okon Effiong and Obong Dr. Okon Emah who were present during the visit, all lauded the Chairmen for their show of respect for the highest traditional stool in Ibibio land and Akwa Ibom State. The duo further charged the Chairmen to continue to support the state governor.

Arc. Iniobong Orok (Nsit Ubium) and Dr. Uwemedimo  Udo (Uyo). 

Others were Hon. Surv. Iniobong Ekpenyong (Uruan), Hon. (Deaconess) Otobong Aaron -(Nsit Ibom), Hon. NsikanAbasi Ukobot (Ibiono) and Hon. Akon Michael Asuquo (Ibesikpo).
