…as Uyo youths reject NNPP

The gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for Akwa Ibom State in March 11 governorship election; Mr. Uduak Udoh has floored with huge margin, his counterpart in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP); Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe at his Polling Unit.

Results trickling in from the Presidential election held today show that the LP Presidential candidate, His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi defeated NNPP, APC and PDP at Akpanudoedehe’s Unit 10, Afaha Offot in Uyo Ward 6, Uyo local government area of the state.

While the Labour Party polled a total of 125 votes to defeat NNPP which came a distant second with 46; PDP and APC scored 29 and 5 votes, respectively at the said Unit 10.

At Unit 11, Ward 11, the LP Presidential candidate also won with large margin, scoring 131 votes, while PDP had 39, APC 22 and YPP, 9.

Speaking to newsmen after the election, one of the youths from the area who gave his name as Joseph Udi, said the outcome of the election points to where the youths have chosen to go.

He said “The youths of this area have spoken through their PVCs. Never again shall anyone use us to bargain for his political gains.

We voted for the Labour Party because of Peter Obi and the man who bears the governorship flag in the state; Uduak Udoh. We don’t want anyone who brings an unknown party and a strange Presidential candidate to this Ward.

Uduak Udoh is a good man who means well for the people of Akwa Ibom State. That’s why we support him.

He believes in human development as against others who only care about themselves and their immediate families. Come March 11, all the youths of Uyo Ward 6 will vote for Uduak Udoh of the Labour Party”.

At Polling Unit 014, St. Luke’s Hospital, Anua, Labour Party scored 278 votes, while APC and PDP got 36 and 6, respectively.

Expressing his joy over LP victory at the Unit, another youth from the area, Kufre Udi said they chose to support the party because of its good programmes for the youths.

He also described the Labour Party governorship candidate; Mr. Uduak Udoh as a symbol of the New Era, stressing that the Uyo-born governorship hopeful was the only candidate without any unpleasant political baggage.

Meanwhile, information gleaned from our Reporters who monitored the elections across the state capital have that the Labour Party is also leading in most wards in Uyo, where its governorship candidate; Uduak Udoh hails from.
