… First Phase of Empowerment Set for January

The Senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Senator Ekong Sampson has once again affirmed his commitment to positively impact the lives of his constituents during his stay in office.

Speaking during a media parley with select journalists from the senatorial district recently, Senator Ekong Sampson revealed that his seven months old journey so far has been impactful as human capacity development and people oriented bills and motions are top on his agenda at the red chambers adding that he is one of the most vocal legislators in the 10th Senate.

Ekong Sampson who is also the Chairman of Senate Committee on Solid Minerals Development thanked the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio for his all inclusive leadership style in the senate which has ensured a harmonious relationship between them and the executive.

Senator Ekong Sampson opined that his own idea of youth engagement is by training them on various skills and vocation. He further revealed that all is set for the first phase of empowerment of his constituents in January 2024 though many have been benefiting from his milk of kindness before now but he doesn’t subscribe to blowing his own trumpet.

On job provision, the Senator disclosed that he has secured federal civil service jobs for a good number of his constituents who are qualified and also charged the youths to prioritize self development to get them prepared when more opportunities beckon adding that he has created lots of jobs for people especially in his hospitality outfit, Watbridge Hotels which has a very large and commanding workforce.

” When you talk about provision of jobs, I want to state here that I’ve secured federal civil service jobs for a good number of my constituents and I also want to plead with our youths to prioritize self development so that they can take advantage of available job opportunities”. He said.

The Senator who represents the most local government areas in the state (12), also briefed news men that all his appointments so far has accommodated everyone in order to give them that sense of belonging.

On what to expect in the remaining years, Senator Ekong Sampson assured the senatorial district that he will deliver on the core mandate given to him by consolidating on his achievements so far just as he did while serving as Council Chairman and House of Assembly Member.

“Everybody knows I am always focused on delivering the goods for my people and my record still stands out as Council Chairman and House of Assembly Member.I resided in my home town while serving the people and they benefitted from the numerous people oriented projects I executed. I am proud to also state here that I left a good amount of money in the local government purse which is quite commendable and people should expect more of these live touching impacts while I’m serving as Senator”. He said.

He equally paid glowing tribute to the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for his approach to governance which he described as simplified and humane governance which has so far impacted the state positively.

The media parley was well attended by seasoned members of the Fourth Estate from the senatorial district who all gave a pass mark to the senator who is also their colleague.
