Mr. Victor Okon has emerged the PDP Chapter Chairman for ITU local government area. He emerged through a peaceful congress held, Saturday at the local government headquarters in Mbak Itam.
The Congress Returning Officer for ITU, Mr. Hero Akpata had declared him the winner after emerging victorious at the election.
Reacting, the Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Hon. Akan Okon who hailed the peaceful and orderly conduct of delegates during the exercise, said he was satisfied with the outcome of the congress election in Itu.
Speaking to Global Pilot News, the Commissioner noted that the exercise was conducted in line with party guidelines.
Also speaking, the Chapter PDP Chairman elect in ITU, Mr. Victor Okon thanked members of the party and stakeholders in ITU for the confidence reposed in him, and vowed to lead the party to victory in ITU.
On his part, former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, and a Chieftain of the party, Senator Anietie Okon said the outcome of the congress in ITU aligns completely with the party’s constitution, and applauded the level of maturity and unity of purpose in display by party delegates.
State Officer of the party from ITU, Mr. Effiong Ebong, told newsmen that the outcome of today’s congress of the PDP had marked a turning point in ITU, unlike what was obtained in the past. He said he was particularly elated that all the stakeholders were united in the choice of party leadership in ITU.
