The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Rep. Unyime Idem, has been awarded the best legislator in Annang land for outstanding representation.
Idem, a two-term House of Representatives Member from Oruk Anam local government area, is of the Annang extraction of Akwa Ibom Northwest (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District. Former governor and current Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, a two-term senator is also an Annang man.
Other legislators of Annang extraction are Hon. Clement Jimbo (Abak/Ika/Etim Ekpo Federal Constituency), Hon. Patrick Umoh (Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara/Essien Udim Federal Constituency), Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly; Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, amongst others.
According to media reports, Rep. Idem was bestowed with the award at the “…inauguration of the 8th Executive Council and induction of its Trustees, Patrons and Patronesses of Annang Community, Abuja”.
The report adds “The Federal legislator, who is the Chairman, Committee on Public Procurement, also performed the unveiling of the Afe Annang building project in Abuja, promising to provide the needed support for the completion of the project.
In his remark, Rep. Idem thanked the organizers of the event, and admonished the new executives to take their responsibilities seriously so that the community will continue to grow.
He also encouraged all Annang sons and daughters to take education seriously, noting that he will continue to use his office and goodwill to facilitate employment for as many Akwa Ibomites as he can”.
