We’re very proud of you’ -Council Chairman; Uko Umoh

The Chairman, Etinan Local Government Area; Hon. Uko Umoh has felicitated with Rt. Hon (Miss) Progress Friday Umoh on her emergence as Speaker of the National Children’s Parliament, noting that her emergence had brought glory and honour to the local government area and Akwa Ibom State.

The Council Boss who bared his mind at his office on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 while playing host to the Children’s Parliament Speaker also promised to assist her during her tenure to achieve her aims, objectives and programmes.

It would be recalled that Miss Progress, an SS3 Student of King Solomon School, Uyo who hails from Ikot Ibok in Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, was sworn-in by the immediate-past Honourable Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development; Pauline Kedem Tallen as Speaker of the Children’s Parliament for a tenure of three years.

Speaking during the brief event, the Council Chairman said “On behalf of the Government and people of Etinan Local Government Area, I wish to heartily congratulate you on your emergence as the Speaker of the National Children’s Parliament. 

To me, it’s not a small feat and I can’t take it for granted. You have brought honour and glory to your immediate family, your village, Etinan Local Government Area in particular and Akwa Ibom state in general. As a government, we shall honour and celebrate you. We will do all within our reach to support you to achieve your goals during your reign”.

Earlier in her speech, the Children’s Parliament Speaker, while thanking the Council Chairman for hosting her, solicited his support to enable her carry out her lofty programmes and projects.

The 14-years old Miss Progress who was accompanied by her mother told the Council Chairman that she needed a platform to talk to the children on areas such as Child Rights, education, child abuse, gender issues, amongst others.

Present during the visit were the Vice Chairman; Hon Imaobong Michael, Council Secretary; Hon. Lawrencia Etuk, Chief of Staff to the Chairman; Pastor Ubong Inyang, Head of Service; Mercy Ntekim, Supervisor for Education; Edidiong Celestine among others.
