The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday, inaugurated 18 welfare package committees for the 2020 Ramadan fasting.

Speaking at the occasion in Gusau, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Liman, said that the committees comprised state, zonal and local government areas.

He said that in each of the 14 council areas in the state, the party formed an 11-man committee that would take the responsibility of sharing the Ramadan packages to the beneficiaries in their respective areas.
“In each of the three senatorial districts of the state, we also formed another 11-man committee, charged with the responsibility of monitoring the exercise.

“At the state level, we set up a five-man committee, headed by myself, to oversee the general exercise across the state,” he said.
Liman listed the items to be distributed to members of the party and other people of the state to include assorted grains, cash and clothing, all of which, he said, were provided by the state APC leader, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Yari.
He said that the gesture was to cushion the effect of the lockdown as a result of COVID-19.
“As we inaugurate the committees today, we will distribute the items before the commencement of the 2020 Ramadan fasting,” Liman added.
