Officers and men of the Nigeria Police from  Alausa Division on Ikosi Road, Lagos have arrested a Thirty-years-old Emmanuel Achogwu for allegedly stealing Solar panels that were installed by the Lagos State Government.

It would be recalled that recently, Lagos State Government installed some solar-powered streetlights in some parts of the state. A few weeks later, the solar panels were reportedly stolen. 

Our paper gathered that the police who were informed of the incident got to work immediately which led to the apprehension of Emmanuel Achogwu. It was learned that the suspect was arrested with four solar panels, moments after he removed them. 

Investigations reveal that the suspect was one of the technicians contracted by government authorities to install the solar-powered streetlights. As at the time of this report, investigation was ongoing.    

In a related development, 25 CCTV cameras installed by the State Government were also reportedly stolen. So far, three persons have been arrested by the police in connection with the alleged crime.

It was gathered that the camera was taking pictures of the criminal while he was climbing the pole. The police, it was learnt, traced the suspect to his house at Ayobo and arrested him. Two other suspects were also arrested at Trade fair in connection with the alleged theft.
