The Honourable Chairman, Etinan Local Government Area; Hon. Uko Umoh has charged the newly appointed and sworn-in Supervisors in the Council to do their best to bring about the desired change in the area.

Hon. Uko who stated this on Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Council Secretariat, Etinan, while assigning portfolios to the Supervisors, urged them to see their appointments and assigned duties as a call to service and a stepping stone.

The Chairman enjoined the Supervisors to see the entire local government area as their immediate Constituency, adding that he would love to be seen as Chairman for the entire Etinan people, irrespective of village or political party affiliation.

He said “I want to thank you all today for starting well. I must commend your dedication as could be gleaned from your punctuality to this event. I pray you will keep this up. This is an opportunity for you all to write your names in gold.

As your Chairman, one most important thing I will do is to ensure your welfare. It is my primary duty to avail you with a conducive environment to work. Beginning from today, everyone will be assigned portfolio and a physical office to operate”.

While appreciating the governor of Akwa Ibom State for the privilege given them to serve the people, the Council Boss continued “Politics is over. It’s time for service. We will continue to be grateful to His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno for the privilege he has accorded us to serve in our various capacities. As the Chairman, I want a change in Etinan and I count on your support to succeed.

Do all you can to contribute to the change we all desire in this local government area.
By your efforts, you could write your names in gold. Let’s be selfless in service. Let the interest of Etinan people be our topmost priority. I desire that we all see this appointment as a stepping stone and handle it with all seriousness”.

Highpoint of the meeting was the assignment of portfolios which saw the Vice Chairman; Hon. Imaobong Michael emerge as Dean of Supervisors while Owoidogho Ekanem, Ime John Inyang and NseObong Nda were appointed as Supervisors for Works, Agriculture and Environment, respectively.

Others were Edidiong Celestine who is to take charge of Education, Emmanuel Inyang -Security, Stanley Umoh -Social Development and Welfare while Imaobong Okokon is the Supervisor for Women Affairs.

Ene Etuknwa is in charge of Political and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ubong Udoekong -Culture and Tourism, Mandy Stephen -Health, Godwin Ufot -Youths and Sports and Mfon Ekanem -Lands and Housing.

The meeting was attended by the Council Secretary; Hon. Lawrencia Etuk, Head of Service; Mercy Ntekim.

Also in attendance were the Chief of Staff to the Chairman; Mr. Ubong Inyang, Special Adviser on Youths; Hon. Item Etuk among others.
