In order for a smooth celebration of this year’s Children’s Day marked nationwide every May 27, the Chairman of Etinan Local Government Council, Hon. Uko Umoh has directed that all dilapidated facilities at the Etinan Stadium be rehabilitated immediately.

The Council Boss who gave the directive on Saturday while on an on-the-spot inspection of the stadium and other facilities in the area, noted that the borehole and toilet facilities must be ready for use by the children. He also handed a commitment for the football pitch and the overgrown surroundings to be cleared.

The facilities’ inspection tour is part of Hon. Umoh-led administration’s goal of resuscitating all the abandoned projects and assets of government in the area for optimal benefit of the people.

In a chat with newsmen on the sidelines of the inspection tour, the Chairman hinted that to achieve his aim, he had recently inaugurated a special Committee to go round all the twelve Wards in the Local Government with a view to taking stock of all the abandoned assets of government.

On the 27th of May this year, our children will gather here for the Children’s Day Celebrations. Again, on October 1st, Etinan people will be here to mark our independence as a nation. Besides the celebrations, sporting activities could be held here if it is put in proper shape.

So, I have directed that the facility should be rehabilitated immediately. Before May 27, the borehole, toilets and other facilities must be ready for use by the children”.

At the Etinan Roundabout, the Chairman promised to beautify the entire surroundings and restore the green areas around the vicinity. He assured that he would make the Etinan Roundabout a ‘Center of Attraction’. He therefore urged those with illegal structures around the location to dismantle them in order to guarantee the restoration of its original plan.
