Concerned Citizens of Zamfara state have challenged Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara to immediately subject himself to the Corona virus test, having have had contact with so many people who have tested positive to the virus from his recent trips to Dubai, Germany and within Nigeria.

The call on the governor was contained in a release today, Wednesday, signed on behalf the Zamfara Concerned Citizens, by Al’mansoor Gusau, Director, New Media Office of the former governor, His Excellency, Dr. A. A. Yari.

The group said: “Bello Matawalle was one of the Nigerian governors suspected to be Positive for the deadly Covid-19, yet the governor denied to be tested to confirm his true status to the virus.

“In fact rumours of Bello Matawalle testing positive right from Germany, has gone virile, with online postings that he has gone into self quarantine in Germany before he subsequently returned to Nigeria.

“The fight against the dreaded Covid-19 virus can only be won when stakeholders like Governor Bello Matawalle show responsibility beyond lip service, and allow themselves, who had contact with the people on positive status of the virus to go for test.

“We hereby appeal to the Bello Matawalle not to play politics with the health and safety of Zamfara people, even as we prayed for Bello and wish that he test negative at the end.

“We are also yet to see any concrete preparation by the government to tackle the scourge in the state beyond the shutdown and ban of public gatherings. We therefore urge the government to take a cue from what is obtained in Borno, Lagos and other states where they have shown serious commitment to fighting the scourge”.

It could be recalled that the high profiled citizens of Nigeria have so far tested positive for the virus. These were discovered after they subjected themselves for tests.
