The University of Uyo Post-graduate Students Association has bestowed an Award of Excellence upon Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, Chairman of the Uyo Local Government Transition Committee.

The award, according to the group, is in recognition of Dr. Udo’s significant contributions to “human capacity development, academic excellence, and educational advancement”.

The Association’s President, Mr. Edidiong Archibong, presented the award to Dr. Udo at the council, on Friday, December 22, praising his outstanding contributions to the academic community as a lecturer prior to his election as Council Chairman.

Archibong emphasized Dr. Udo’s exceptional dedication to service, stating that, “His passion as a political office holder is top-notch, making him truly deserving of this appreciation and honour.”

He said: “Dr. Udo has set a precedent as the first chairman to provide bursaries for students, demonstrating his commitment to his role and his deliberate approach to representation”.

Archibong further highlighted Dr. Udo’s passion for healthcare delivery and his fulfillment of all responsibilities expected of his office.

He concluded, “The reward for hard work is more work, and we hope that his journey from the Transition Committee will lead him to higher offices.”

While receiving the award, Dr. Udo expressed gratitude for the recognition and encouraged the students to remain diligent in their studies, emphasizing that hard work and dedication are essential for reaching the pinnacle of their chosen professions.

Present at the award ceremony were other colleagues in the association, including Sunday Sunday, Hannah Archibong, and Dr. Samuel Asua.
